Long Time No See!

So... it's been a while since I've been here! Is there anyone even around anymore?!

While I'm here, I thought I might introduce our newest addition to the family to anyone who might still be hanging around these traps! Blog, please meet Ralphie. Ralphie, this is the blog!

Our brand new boy was adopted from a beautiful group who rescue many animals who are often sentenced to death row. We're so pleased to have been able to welcome another rescue pup into our home, and at 10 weeks of age little Ralphie is giving us lots of joy as well as a lot of trouble! But we're loving having him, and teaching him the ways of the world.

He sends his love to the blog world, and hopes you've been well! :)

(Not So) Wordless Wednesday : New Camera!

I have had a brief absence from the world of blogging lately, although I've been checking in every now and then to read what you had all been up to! Things have been so busy lately, and I've just had a complete lack of motivation to sit down and actually write! But I'm hoping that I'll have a blogging resurgence and will be able to re-enter the World of Blogging with a vengeance.

However before I do that, I'm probably going to disappear for a couple of weeks.  Tomorrow Liam and I are off to the airport and we're heading to Malaysia.  We'll be starting in the East, heading to Kota Kinabalu.  We'll be climbing a mountain, adventuring a rainforest, getting on board a steam train, and heading to an island resort where we will do nothing but eat, sleep, drink tasty cocktails and bask in the sunshine! Then we're off to Kuala Lumpur for more food and drink, but also hopefully an immense amount of shopping to be done!

Rocket's missed the blog, and has told me to say hello to you all! And although I know this is a far from wordless post, he's dying to feature in yet another Wordless Wednesday!

 Ahh, time for bed!

WAIT. What's that? A new camera?!?!

Can I see? Pleeeeeeeease, can I seeeeeeeeeee?!

We got a new camera to take with us on our trip, so hopefully I'll have lots of killer holiday snaps to share once we get back! Hope all has been good with everyone, and I'm off to catch up on some of my favourite blogs! :)

The Early Bird Gets the Worm!

I was awake bright and early on Saturday morning.

Not because I had to be.  I didn't have any pressing business to attend to, or anywhere I had to be.  Liam left early for work, but I was free to laze around and have a mega sleep-in.  But I didn't.

I didn't, because I couldn't breathe.
It's hard to breathe when you have this fatty lying across your body, compressing your lungs!

But with a face like that, it's hard to stay mad!

I decided to start my day with a long soak in the hot tub.  I've been coming down with a fluey sort of cold, and the steaming hot water did wonders for my aching muscles!

We were having friends over on Saturday night, so I headed to the shops to pick up some supplies.  While I was there, I decided it was time to get some fresh flowers to replace the drooping bunches that I bought last week.  I managed to find these native buds for a mere $4! What a bargain.

I also picked up some gorgeous yellow lilies for the top of my step cabinet, but I forgot to take a photo.  They look fabulous though!  I've got a beautiful healthy looking stem which I picked out of last week's bunch sitting on the coffee table too.  As I mentioned in my previous post, the natural lighting in the house is fabulous and that with the addition of fresh flowers scattered throughout the house it almost feels like you're outside enjoying the sunshine, from the comfort of my own living room!

Saturday night's activities involved copious amounts of alcohol, some oldschool Atari battles, and dancing around the back deck trying to learn the choreography from internet tutorials to Oppa Gangnam Style.  If you haven't seen it yet (perhaps you've had your head buried in the sand?) you should YouTube it quick smart!

We ordered some Vietnamese take away from the restaurant around the corner, but beer, cider, red bull & vodka, and perfecting our Gangnam Style took precedence.  Rocket didn't mind though, because it meant there were plenty of leftovers for his dinner the next day!

No where it my pet care manuals does it give me serving suggestions for noodles, so I made sure to cut them up into small pieces so he wouldn't choke on them.  With the speed that he wolfed down his dinner, I can safely say that Rocket did not object to the way I served his dinner, and it appears he is partial to some egg wonton noodles, and combination beef pho!

The humans of the house however, had a spicy green chicken curry for sustenance.

My lovely mother text me early on Sunday to tell me that she had spent her morning in the kitchen whipping up a curry and spaghetti bolognaise for the week.  She also kindly informed me that I could swing by at any point that day, and collect my serve of each.  I do not object!

And before we know it, and all too quickly, yet another weekend is gone!  Four and a half days until the next one... bring it ON!

I shall end this post with some words of wisdom, and the motto from my weekend.

Do it.

Happy Weekend!

My favorite time of the week is finally here... WEEKEND!
It's chilly outside in old Melbourne town.
I'm trying to build up the courage to get up out of bed to start my day.

But in the mean time...

I've got my beautiful boy snuggled up keeping me warm while Liam is at work.

On second thoughts, I think I'll stay here a while... this is a perfect start to the day!

I hope you all have a Happy Weekend! xx

Wordless Wednesday : Three Musketeers!

A rare moment of calm.

They're hard to come by whenever these three are together!

Easter Long Weekend

How is everyone's long weekend going?

We tried to start ours with a bit of a lie-in.  Rocket had the right idea!

However since we're used to getting up so early most days, our brains were having none of it!

So eventually we roused, and I prepared a yummy meat-free breakfast.

While I cleaned up, Liam did some work around the garden.

Rocket helped...

After which, he was all tuckered out and needed a rest...

Like, really needed a rest!

Saturday morning started off with a quintessential Easter treat...

Hot cross buns, slathered with plenty of butter!

Much to Liam's distress, I only eat fruitless hot cross buns.

After breakfast, it was time for a good game of football!

Being a massive Essendon fan, we head along to as many local games as possible.  My brother is a Port Adelaide supporter (don't ask me what happened there!) so this was an essential match for us!

It was my first game back for the season, and it felt so good to be home on familiar territory and to be surrounded by a sea of black and red.   I made sure I was decked out in all my colours too!

Lucky it seemed to work - there were some worrying moments, but we came out victorious in the end!

Better luck next time, little brother!

Came home, and spent the evening eating wayyyy too much of this delicious hummingbird cake!

Honestly, I don't think there is any dish that woman can't work her magic with!  Amazing.

As if that wasn't enough calories for the weekend, yesterday was spent filled with yet more eating!

We visited Liam's parents for lunch, and his mum had cooked up an Asian feast!  His sister was horrified at the idea that she would cook Chinese food to serve me, and whilst I have to admit it was a little different to the traditional Chinese food that I am used to, it was very tasty!

We had dumplings and san choi bow as starters, followed by the main dish satay chicken skewers, special fried rice, and a beef and vegetable casserole served in a crispy noodle basket! Yum.

In an attempt to work off some of lunch, we decided to do some exercise in the form of Wii games!

In this game, you've got to flap your arms around and shift your balance on the board to try and land on objects.  It was a lot of fun, and was a good laugh watching people flapping their arms around!

But all games aside, we still had my early birthday dinner with my family to attend...

And as you may have learned - where my family is concerned, there is NEVER any shortage of food!

Gosh, I love extra long weekends! So much achieved, yet still so much more fun to come!

We're just about to head off to the pub to meet friends for lunch, and then we're off to the MCG to watch the footy!  I'm hoping that the Hawkers give the Cats a mighty thrashing.  I'm too afraid of the devestation that I will have to deal with otherwise! Liam has gone to watch every Cats vs Hawthorn game since the 2008 Grand Final, and unfortunately that was the last win they've had!

Wish us luck, guys! I hope your weekends have been as eventful, happy and safe! xx

(not so) Wordless Wednesday : Brucey Boy

This Wordless Wednesday post is not quite so "wordless", but I think a few words are necessary.

On a bit of a sad note - our dear boy Bruce passed away while we were on holiday.

He was the most darling little thing, and used to love nothing more than a cuddle.  He'd lie on his back, tucked up in the crook of my elbow while I tickled his tummy or scratched under his chin.  He had no fear, and would even show Rocket who was boss, despite being only a fraction of the size of his opponent! I bet he's off having a brave adventure in Ratty Heaven right now!

So, I'd like to dedicate this (not so) Wordless Wednesday's post to a moment of silence for my brave boy, Bruce!  You were more than "just a pet" to us.  You brought us lots of entertainment, many laughs, endless cuddles, unconditional love, and constant companionship.  We'll always be grateful for what you brought to our lives, and we'll never forget you.

Rest in Peace, little man.
